A message from our Hotel Manager
"Dear Guest"
"When you experience something special, it leaves a lasting impression. I grew up here in Stevns and have always known about Klinten—a conference center right in the middle of town that no one here really knew the inside of. Only the building’s iconic, angular silhouette, rising above the harbor and the beach, was a familiar part of the townscape."
It was in May 2025 that I was invited inside for the first time, and I remember being quite overwhelmed by the many rooms, spaces, opportunities, and challenges the buildings held.
The buildings had recently been sold by HK Copenhagen, which had built them in the early 1980s as a training center, and now the new owner was faced with the task of putting the newly renamed “ Strandhotel Klinten ” on the map.
It has been important to remain credible and authentic in the story we share with our guests and to preserve the DNA and foundation upon which the hotel was built —a place to come together.
"At the same time, we want to create a place where guests feel welcomed, where they experience that extra touch of care, find peace and a sense of belonging—all without any hassle. That is the essence of the service we offer, and I hope you have a wonderful stay with us."

The History of Strandhotel Klintens
The original Hotel Klinten.
The location and view are the same as they are today, but everything else has changed. When the hotel transitioned from a conference center to a hotel in 2025, the name was changed so that the associations would better reflect the experience. However, the name “Klinten” was retained.
In 1919, Hotel Klinten was built on the site where the hotel stands today, using chalkstone from Stevns Klint.
With its unique location, Hotel Klinten embodied the essence of the seaside hotels of that era and operated as such until the building was seized by the Germans during World War II. The hotel then served as the occupying power’s headquarters on Stevns until liberation.
After World War II, Deacon Lauritz Nielsen and his wife converted the hotel into a nursing home, which it remained until 1975. A few years later, the original hotel was demolished, and the current hotel was built by HK Copenhagen and opened in 1981 as the union’s training center.
HK Klinten became so popular among the union's members that, in the late 1980s, the decision was made to expand the facility.
For Klintens’ 10th anniversary in 1991, the Pyramiden banquet hall and eight additional rooms were ready. At the same time, the villa located on the property was incorporated into the hotel grounds, and it has a special story of its own.

The lot on which the house stood was purchased, during the time of the former Hotel Klinten, by the manager, Lauritz Nielsen, and his wife, Mrs. Nielsen. Today, the house still carries on their legacy through the meeting rooms that are now named after them. Here, the connection between the past and the present is clearly evident.
In 2013 and 2014, a major renovation of the property’s rooms was carried out. The bathrooms were replaced, and the rooms were modernized and fitted with large windows, terraces, and balconies.

In March 2025, yet another new chapter in the house’s history began when Karl Peter Andersen took over the property and named it “ Strandhotel Klinten.”
The new name evokes the original hotel, but retains the word “Klinten.”
Karl Peter Andersen is a local resident and also runs Traktørstedet Højeruplund in Højerup.
Strandhotel Klinten Today, it operates as a hotel that, in addition to meetings and conferences—which the venue still hosts—also welcomes both Danish and international guests for stays and hosts parties and other events.
